1. Who We Are

Curious Ira ("we", "our", "us") is an AI-powered interactive bedtime story app for Indian children, operated from Noida, India. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect the personal information of parents and children who use our service at curiousira.in.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide our service:

Parent account: Email address, name, and subscription payment status (we do not store card details — payments are handled by Razorpay/Stripe).

Child profile: Child's first name, age, and preferred language. No surname, photo, school, or location is required.

Story & learning data: Stories played, quiz answers, vocabulary encountered, reading streaks, and milestones. Used to generate weekly reports and personalise story recommendations.

Device & usage data: Browser type, device type, and general usage patterns (no precise location). Used to improve app performance and fix issues.

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide and personalise the Curious Ira service for your child.
To generate weekly learning reports for parents.
To manage subscriptions, trials, and billing.
To send essential service emails (e.g., receipt, account alerts). We do not send marketing emails without opt-in.
To improve our story library, voice quality, and app features.
To comply with applicable law.

4. We Never Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information — especially children's data — to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers. Full stop.

5. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted service providers:

Supabase — database and authentication hosting (data stored on servers within AWS, with encryption at rest and in transit).
Razorpay / Stripe — payment processing. We never see or store your full card details.
Vercel — web hosting and delivery. No personal data is shared beyond standard server logs.

All providers are contractually bound to use your data only to provide services to us and not for their own purposes.

6. Children's Privacy

We take children's privacy extremely seriously. Child profiles are created and managed exclusively by the parent account holder. Children do not have their own accounts and cannot independently share data outside the app.

We do not show ads to children, we do not have social features, and child-facing screens contain no external links or data collection beyond what is necessary for the story experience.

7. Parental Rights & Control

As a parent or guardian, you have full control over your child's data:

View all data associated with your account via the dashboard.
Edit or delete child profiles at any time.
Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data (see Section 9).
Export your child's learning data — email us and we will send a copy within 7 days.

8. GDPR & DPDP Compliance

We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act, 2023). You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@curiousira.in.

9. Data Deletion

To delete your account and all associated data, email hello@curiousira.in with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". We will process your request within 30 days. See our Data Deletion page for full details.

10. Data Retention

We retain account and learning data for as long as your subscription is active and for up to 12 months after cancellation (to allow reactivation). Deleted accounts are permanently purged within 30 days of receiving a deletion request.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our service evolves. We will notify you by email if we make material changes. The date at the top of this page always reflects the latest revision.
