Your data belongs to you. Here's how to delete it.

Last updated: June 2025

Request Data Deletion

Send an email from your registered account address to:

hello@curiousira.in

Subject line: Data Deletion Request

We will process your request within 30 days.

Why We Have a Manual Process

To protect your family's data, we verify deletion requests manually before permanently removing any data. This ensures that no one else can accidentally or maliciously delete your account. We confirm your identity by matching the request email with your registered account address.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1
Send an email: From the email address you used to register with Curious Ira, email hello@curiousira.in with the subject line "Data Deletion Request".
  2. 2
Include your details: In the body, mention the name(s) of the child profile(s) you want deleted, or write "delete my entire account and all data" for a full deletion.
  3. 3
We confirm receipt: We will reply to your email within 2 business days to confirm we have received your request and to verify your identity if needed.
  4. 4
Deletion is processed: We will permanently delete your data within 30 days of the confirmed request. You will receive a final email when deletion is complete.

What Gets Deleted

A full account deletion removes:

  • Your parent account (email, name, login credentials).
  • All child profiles (name, age, language preference).
  • All story playback history and quiz results.
  • Reading streaks, vocabulary progress, and milestone data.
  • All weekly reports associated with your account.
  • Prize settings and completion history.
  • Subscription and billing records (except legally required transaction logs โ€” see below).

What We Retain (and Why)

Some data must be retained for legal and financial compliance even after account deletion:

  • Transaction records (amount, date, invoice ID) are retained for up to 7 years as required by Indian tax and accounting law. These records contain no story or child data.
  • Anonymised, aggregated analytics (e.g., "stories in Tamil increased 20% this month") that cannot identify any individual may be retained for product improvement purposes.

Partial Deletion

If you only want to delete one child profile (and keep your parent account and other profiles active), you can do this directly from the app: Dashboard โ†’ Profile โ†’ Child Profile โ†’ Delete. For permanent deletion via email, specify the child profile name in your request.

Your Rights Under DPDP & GDPR

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act, 2023) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to request erasure of your personal data. We honour these rights promptly. If you believe your request has not been handled correctly, you may contact the relevant data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
