Everything you need to know about Curious Ira.

About Curious Ira

What is Curious Ira?

Curious Ira is an AI-powered interactive bedtime story app for Indian children aged 5โ€“9. Stories are rooted in Indian culture โ€” Panchatantra fables, Birbal tales, Jataka stories โ€” and are available in all 22 Indian languages. Children listen to expressive narration, make choices that shape the story, take a short quiz, and earn rewards set by their parents.

Who is Ira?

Ira is our wise owl mascot ๐Ÿฆ‰ who narrates all the stories. Think of her as a beloved storytelling grandparent who speaks your child's mother tongue and always has a new tale to tell.

What age group is it designed for?

Curious Ira is designed for children aged 5 to 9 years. Stories are calibrated to this age range โ€” vocabulary, moral complexity, and interactivity all suit early childhood development.

Languages & Stories

Which Indian languages are supported?

We support all 22 scheduled Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia, Assamese, Urdu, Sanskrit, and more. Each story is narrated in the language's native script with a natural-sounding voice โ€” not just a translation.

Can my child switch languages?

Yes! Parents can set a primary language for each child profile. Children can also explore stories in other languages from the story library. This is a great way to introduce a second Indian language.

What kinds of stories are available?

Stories include Panchatantra fables, Birbal's wit, Tenali Rama tales, Jataka stories, folk tales from different Indian states, and original stories inspired by Indian values. New stories are added weekly.

How does the interactive story work?

At key moments in the story, your child is asked to make a choice โ€” for example, "Should the clever rabbit trust the lion or run away?" Their choice shapes how the story unfolds. This builds empathy, decision-making, and engagement.

Subscription & Pricing

How much does Curious Ira cost?

Curious Ira costs โ‚น249/month or โ‚น1,999/year. The annual plan saves you over โ‚น900 and includes up to 3 child profiles and priority access to new stories and languages.

Is there a free trial?

Yes! We offer a 7-day free trial. No credit card required to start. You will only be billed after the trial ends if you choose to continue.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel anytime from your account settings. Go to Dashboard โ†’ Profile โ†’ Subscription โ†’ Cancel. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period. No cancellation fee.

Can I pause my subscription?

We do not currently offer a pause option. You can cancel and resubscribe at any time without losing your child's story history or progress.

How many child profiles can I create?

The Monthly plan supports 1 child profile. The Annual plan supports up to 3 child profiles โ€” great for siblings.

Child Mode & Safety

What is Child Mode?

Child Mode is a simplified, distraction-free interface designed for your child to use independently. It shows only age-appropriate stories in their chosen language, with large text, simple navigation, and no access to account settings.

What is the Parent PIN?

The Parent PIN is a 4-digit code that locks access to the parent dashboard and account settings. It prevents children from changing language, subscription details, or prize settings. You set it during onboarding and can change it in your profile.

Is the app safe for children to use alone?

Yes. The app contains no ads, no in-app purchases for children, no social features, and no external links accessible in Child Mode. All content is reviewed to ensure it is age-appropriate and aligned with Indian family values.

Quizzes, Prizes & Reports

What is the quiz after each story?

After every story, Ira asks 2โ€“3 simple questions to check comprehension and introduce new vocabulary. It is kept fun and short โ€” never stressful. Children get instant positive feedback.

How does the prize system work?

Parents define milestones (e.g., "finish 5 stories this week") and attach a real-world reward (e.g., "extra screen time" or "a favourite snack"). When a child hits the milestone, they see a celebration screen. Parents confirm the prize. It is entirely customisable.

What does the weekly report include?

The weekly report shows: stories listened to, languages explored, quiz scores, new words learned, values encountered (honesty, courage, kindness), and reading streak. You can share it directly to WhatsApp.

Technical & Devices

Which devices are supported?

Curious Ira works on any modern browser โ€” mobile (Android, iPhone), tablet, and desktop. No app download required. We recommend Chrome or Safari for the best experience.

Does it work offline?

Curious Ira is a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can install it to your home screen for app-like access. Limited offline playback of recently played stories is supported, but a data connection is needed to load new stories.

Can I install it like an app?

Yes! On your phone, open curiousira.in in Chrome (Android) or Safari (iPhone), tap "Add to Home Screen", and it installs like a native app. No app store needed.
